Vertimax Australia was engaged to do a complete Design, manufacture and Installation of a multi layering winch system to bring the BMU up to a more modern design.
The replacement of the Tirak winches with a multi layering winch allows the installation of wire ropes with internal copper conductors. The electrical conductors replace the need for the Magtron system and therefore allow the BMU cage to be hard wired.
This system would also see the electrical system updated to a PLC driven device and the replacement of the electrical cabinet and controls as above. These upgrades would ensure full compliance with the current standards.
Works also included an initial major inspection; follow up rectification works and general BMU repairs.
The project was completed in October 2018. Vertimax continues to provide the BMU maintenance for this site.
